Mordor - mythical land created by J.R.R. Tolkien for his famous "the Lord of the Rings" trilogy was mountainous region ruled by evil Sauron. Ok, it looked different in Peter Jackson's movie (I have to go to New Zealand one day...) but I read Tolkien's book much much earlier and was more influenced by this than the film.
